## Meet Yordan (Dani)

Certified IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization) instructor and the person behind Vitosha SnowKite School

> I grew up in Sofia, at the foot of Vitosha, so the mountain has always been part of my life. I first stood on skis at three, and on a snowboard at nine. I started kiting seven years ago, and I've never looked back.
>
> I tried working in an office, but I soon realised it wasn't for me. I can't stay in one place. I need fresh air, movement and a sense of freedom. This industry turned out to be my calling.
>
> In summer I teach kitesurfing on the island of Gökçeada in Turkey, and in winter I'm back home on Vitosha, teaching people to snowkite. Between seasons you might spot me paragliding or riding downhill on my bike. I'm always smiling, and I love working with people.
>
> My dream is to grow snowkiting in Bulgaria and build a big community around it: a place where people learn, progress, meet and inspire each other. I want everyone who comes to us to leave with new skills, and with memories they'll keep for a long time.

Snowkiting is kitesurfing on snow — a winter alternative to the water, and one of the easiest ways into kite sports if you are starting from scratch.

## Who the lessons are for:

- **Complete beginners** — who have never flown a kite — snowkiting is the easiest way to start.
- **Skiers and snowboarders** — looking for a new winter challenge with no lifts, no queues and no lift pass.
- **Kitesurfers** — who want to stay sharp through the winter or tighten up their kite control.

Most people make their first glides after 3–4 hours of instruction. A lesson is a first introduction; the course takes you there and on to riding on your own.
